Dolphin Report - December, 2008

December was a great month with excellent visibility and plenty of Bottlenose Dolphins moving through.
Unfortunately late December the interaction dropped off slightly. This would have been due to the increase of boat traffic and people that have little respect of the Dolphin Regulations, chasing and driving over the pods of dolphins.
Seals, Penguins and Common Dolphins were nowhere to be seen in December.
Dolphin Report - November, 2008

November has been an excellent month with good visibility. There has been plenty of bottlenose dolphins around and also one pod of common dolphins with about twelve dolphins in the pod. The common dolphins were only seen about nine times through November feeding on schools of white bait-fish.
There has been a lot of penguins around, with as many as fifty seen on one trip. The Seals and Sea lions have not been around with only one Sea lion spotted in November and only a few Seals.
Dolphin Report - October, 2008

October has been an excellent month. There have been a lot of local dolphins around, with some great visibility and interaction. No Sea Lions have been around in October, and only a few Fur Seals.
TThe later part of October the Penguin and sea bird numbers have increased. November we expect to see the Common Dolphins off the coast of Glenelg with large numbers of Penguins.
Dolphin Report - September, 2008

A good month for visibility and dolphin numbers, with large pods of 25 dolphins coming close to shores to feed on squid.
There has been only one small Sea Lion (not named) in the area for September.
Interaction through the month has been excellent, with October looking good with Common Dolphins expected to move through late October early November.
Dolphin Report - August, 2008

August dolphin swims were very good with the exception of cold water, however, the water visibility was the best we have ever seen at this time of year (approx. 10 metre visibility).
There were lots of dolphins around the local squid grounds so that is a good sign, however, the professional squiders are already working the area.
This time of year we usually see lots of fur seals but we are only recording a couple of seals per trip and no sea lion sightings. Penguin sightings are also down with only a few spotted throughout August.
Mo Hawk’s new baby from March ’08 has just been named “Trent” he (or she) is a fat baby at the moment and is already a keen player giving the swimmers a good experience.
Mo Hawk is definitely a very special dolphin and a big part of our success.
September is looking to be a good month with lots of local dolphins in close to shore.
