Dolphin Report - December, 2010

There have been a lot of dolphins around Glenelg and down South with good interaction throughout December. We did have a few days of strong westerly winds that unfortunately stirred up the water close to shore.

There has been a small pod of common dolphins down south which we managed to see five times in December. Seal sightings have been down lately, but we have been lucky to have three calves bought over to ‘Temptation’ and swimmers on a few swims throughout December.

Dolphin Report - November, 2010

WOW! Great visibility and long interaction times, some swims going for almost 2 hrs all up.

There have been common dolphins spotted and swam with on one in four cruises. Large pods of bottlenose dolphins have been around, with one pod estimated to have 35 dolphins in it.

The weather has been a little wet most of November with grey clouds on many mornings, making it harder to find the dolphins, but we always delivered a great swim all of November.

Seals left mid to late November but there was a lot of penguins and sea birds around late November. December should be a good time for swimmers. Dolphins have been at all the usual grounds North and South.

Dolphin Report - October, 2010

October once again has been a great month with clean waters and lots of dolphins in large pods.
A small pod of Common dolphins put on a great show for swimmers late October.
A few Sea lions and Fur seals have been spotted throughout the month also.
November should see larger numbers of common dolphins and even longer interaction time.

Dolphin Report - September, 2010

There have been a lot of dolphins around the local southern grounds. Unfortunately the visibility for most of September was poor. This was due to the heavy rains Adelaide experienced during September, casing the dams to over flow and spill out to sea. The later part of the month saw the water clarity improve dramatically.

There has also been a lot of seals around, as well as a few Southern Wright whales, this was extremely exciting for both customers and crew.

October we should start seeing the Common dolphins come in after the large pilchard schools.

Dolphin Report - June, 2010

June’s dolphin report is very similar to May’s, however, the water quality throughout June was very poor due to heavy rains and strong winds. Temptation will go up on the slip for July and August for a good tidy up.
